Settling for the Inevitable
After that, I more or less gave up trying to lose weight, except for seeing an endocrinologist because I was still convinced I had hypothyroidism. That turned out to be the case, but rather than lose ten pounds immediately when I started medication (like my daughter had), I gained another twenty over the next three years. My oncologist told me he was more concerned about my weight than he was about the cancer returning! All the time, my weight crept up and up, and because I stopped getting on the scales, I barely noticed it. My clothes noticed, though.
The final blow came just over a year ago, when my internal medicine doctor informed me that my blood sugar was alarmingly high, and I was officially pre-diabetic. Even then I had no will to diet, only cutting back a little on carbs at her direction. You see, I was still convinced that cutting out carbs was counterproductive. My six-month recheck revealed I was one-tenth of a point away from full-blown diabetes. Fortunately, not long afterward a friend happened to mention that he’d lost 20+ pounds in a 4-month period, thanks to a strange-sounding low-carb diet. According to him, the reason I’d never been able to stay on a low-carb diet was not eating enough fat!
I Find the Answer!

Suffice it to say, I investigated my friend’s claims and found an abundance of corroboration. I’ve invested hundreds of hours in research, wading through scientific and lay articles, not to mention adopting this strange-sounding diet for myself. I can’t wait to tell you the results! But first, take some time to learn what I did by reading the blog posts. If you are facing what doctors have started to call metabolic syndrome (or the old term, any lifestyle disease), what I’ve learned could potentially save your life. It could even reverse your diabetes or pre-diabetes. While I’m not a doctor and don’t pretend to know everything about the subject, the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
There’s so much, much more to the story as a whole! I’ll attempt to bring you the many pieces of the puzzle, as well as make sense of how they all fit together for a perfect storm of bad health for so many of us. Not only that, but how a few brave researchers have bucked the trend and learned to reverse, even cure Type II diabetes. Is it an impossible dream to be healthy again, without the extremes you see contestants going to on Biggest Loser? Not at all! Many people have done it. I’m doing it. And you can, too.
Today, using the information I’ve found, I’ve lost 20 pounds in the last four months. I’m not done. I have a daunting 50 more to lose. From time to time, I’ll update my progress.
